[Aviation News] At 04:30 on June 4, 2026, Himalaya Airlines flight H9985 landed smoothly at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, marking the official resumption of the Kathmandu–Shenzhen nonstop route. The service returns after nearly six years of suspension, re-establishing an important air link between Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and China’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
According to the flight schedule, the route operates under flight numbers H9985/H9986 and runs twice weekly. Flights from Kathmandu to Shenzhen operate every Tuesday and Thursday, while flights from Shenzhen to Kathmandu operate every Wednesday and Friday.
The resumption forms part of Himalaya Airlines’ strategy to optimize its international network and further strengthen its presence in the China–Nepal market. The restored service is expected to facilitate tourism, business travel, and trade exchanges between Nepal and the Greater Bay Area by providing more convenient air connectivity.
In addition to Shenzhen, Himalaya Airlines currently operates scheduled services between Kathmandu and Lhasa.
On June 5, Himalaya Airlines Executive Vice President Vijay Shrestha told China News Service that the airline has signed letters of intent with relevant parties and plans to resume services between Kathmandu and several Chinese cities, including Shanghai and Hangzhou, in late August this year.
