Under the new schedule, the Hanoi–Moscow route will increase from three to four flights per week. In addition to existing services operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, a new weekly flight will be added on Sundays. All flights will be operated using modern wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft.

This addition comes amid a strong recovery in the Vietnam–Russia market. In 2025, arrivals from Russia to Vietnam reached approximately 690,000 passengers, nearly three times higher than the previous year. In the first two months of 2026 alone, arrivals totaled around 246,000, representing a threefold increase year-on-year. Overall passenger traffic between the two countries has also rebounded significantly, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Nguyen Quang Trung, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: “Vietnam Airlines will continue to closely monitor market developments to adjust operational plans in a timely and appropriate manner, while strictly maintaining the highest safety standards. The flexible adjustment and expansion of international flight frequencies not only enhance operational efficiency but also ensure seamless connectivity on key routes, particularly in the European market, thereby strengthening Vietnam’s links with the region and the world.”

Vietnam Airlines currently operates 11 nonstop services connecting Vietnam and Europe, utilizing a fleet of wide-body Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft. Beginning June 16, 2026, the airline plans to launch a new direct service between Hanoi and Amsterdam, further expanding its presence in the Western European market.

The increased frequency on the Hanoi–Moscow route, alongside continued expansion across Europe, reflects Vietnam Airlines’ consistent strategic direction in developing its international network. As the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines remains committed to maintaining important international routes, ensuring seamless global connectivity, and supporting trade, tourism, and international integration for Vietnam.
