Sun PhuQuoc Airways Launches Chengdu–Ho Chi Minh City Route

August 12, 2026 — Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially launched its direct flight route connecting Chengdu and Ho Chi Minh City, adding another seamless link between Vietnam’s southern economic hub and one of Southwestern China’s major metropolises.

The new route operates 4 flights per week, combined with the Chengdu – Phu Quoc route operating since July, the airline now offers a total of 7 round-trip flights per week between Chengdu and Vietnam, giving travelers greater flexibility to combine multiple destinations within a single itinerary.

By operating dual routes to Chengdu simultaneously, the airline offers travelers from Southwestern China the option to begin their journey in Ho Chi Minh City, explore other destinations in Southern Vietnam, or seamlessly extend their trip to the island of Phu Quoc. Conversely, passengers from Vietnam gain direct access to Chengdu—a key economic, cultural, and aviation hub in Southwestern China.

This milestone highlights a key focus of the airline’s expanding Chinese network: moving beyond single-destination connectivity to build a flexible network that allows travelers to integrate multiple destinations into one trip.

Mr. Le Hoang Nam, a frequent traveler between Vietnam and China, shared:

“When choosing an airline, punctuality and thoughtful service are my top priorities. Today’s flight went very smoothly—fast check-in, friendly crew, and delicious food. I think this will be a great go-to choice for frequent business travelers like me.”

Ms. Li Na, a tourist from Chengdu, noted:

“My family plans to spend a few days in Ho Chi Minh City before heading to Phu Quoc for a vacation. Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ direct flights from Chengdu make trip planning so much easier. Today’s flight was very comfortable, and the service truly exceeded my expectations.”

On this new route, Sun PhuQuoc Airways continues to deliver its signature full-service experience designed around the “Resort in the Sky” concept. Passengers enjoy checked baggage allowances and meals tailored to their ticket class, wireless inflight entertainment (IFE), and meticulous service aimed at making time in the air an enjoyable part of the overall journey. Additionally, Sun Signature members can earn points on every flight to redeem exclusive privileges across Sun Group’s ecosystem, spanning aviation, hospitality, dining, and entertainment.

To celebrate the launch, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is offering special group discounts on the Chengdu – Ho Chi Minh City route. The promotion runs from August 4 to September 4, 2026, for flights departing between August 12, 2026, and March 31, 2027—featuring a 15% discount for groups of 2 passengers and a 20% discount for groups of 3 or more.

With a market size of over 1.4 billion people and Chengdu serving as a major hub with strong connectivity to neighboring provinces, China remains a core priority in the airline’s network expansion strategy.

Building on these established connections, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to further expand its footprint in China, targeting key destinations such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, among others. The airline is also actively pursuing routes to Malaysia, India, Japan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, steadily boosting international access to Phu Quoc.

Starting September 2026, the introduction of the Airbus A330 into service will provide the foundation for medium- and long-haul routes, driving forward the airline’s “Rise to the World” strategy.
