[Industry insight] Starting May 22, 2026, AirAsia will resume the Kuala Lumpur-Wuhan route with four weekly flights, operated by the Airbus A320neo. Ticket sales are already open. The route will compete directly with services operated by China Eastern Airlines, with the two carriers based at different terminals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

AirAsia flight AK150/AK151 adopts a typical low-cost “red-eye” schedule: flights depart Kuala Lumpur at 18:10 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving in Wuhan at 23:05. The return service departs Wuhan at 00:05 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 05:10 (all times local).
China Eastern Airlines operates the same route during the same period with one daily flight, departing Wuhan at 22:20 and returning from Kuala Lumpur at 04:30, also following a red-eye schedule. The departure times of the two airlines are staggered by approximately four hours, forming a pattern of “AirAsia early-evening red-eye + China Eastern late-night red-eye.”
