Direct Service to Northern Europe! China Eastern Airlines to Resume Shanghai Pudong–Stockholm Route on June 22

Starting June 22, 2026, China Eastern Airlines will officially resume its direct service between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport. This marks the first resumption of the route since its suspension in 2020 due to the pandemic. The relaunch will significantly enhance China Eastern’s route network coverage in Northern Europe and provide a more convenient air corridor for trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between China and Sweden.

The Shanghai–Stockholm direct route will operate three round-trip flights per week, with flight numbers MU289/MU290, operated by the Airbus A330. Flights are scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Outbound flight MU289 departs Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 15:00 Beijing Time and arrives at Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 20:10 local time, with a flight duration of 11 hours and 10 minutes.


Return flight MU290 departs Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 22:40 local time and arrives at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 14:40 Beijing Time the following day, with a flight duration of 10 hours (subject to final schedule confirmation).

At present, the number of European routes operated by China Eastern Airlines has reached 28. Leveraging major gateway hubs such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi’an, passengers can conveniently travel to major European cities including London, Paris, Moscow, Marseille, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Geneva, Frankfurt, Venice, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Budapest, Milan, Barcelona, and Vienna. Including the newly resumed Stockholm service, the airline’s European network now covers 18 destinations across the continent.
