Refined Flavors, Elevated Journeys—Air Astana Hosts Shanghai Inflight Catering Tasting Event

[Press Release] Air Astana together with its catering partner China Aviation Air Catering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., successfully hosted an exclusive inflight catering tasting event in Shanghai. The event focused on enhancing inflight dining quality and service standards, bringing together airline partners, industry representatives, and invited guests to experience Air Astana’s newly upgraded onboard menu and award-winning inflight service. The event also laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in inflight catering while contributing to the continuous enhancement of the passenger travel experience.

As the national carrier of Kazakhstan and one of Central Asia’s leading airlines, Air Astana has consistently upheld a quality-first philosophy centered on passenger experience. The airline regards inflight dining as an integral part of the travel experience and a key element in delivering a differentiated onboard service.

The tasting featured a carefully curated selection of meals prepared by China Aviation Air Catering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. Based on stringent aviation catering safety standards and the dining preferences of both Chinese and international travelers of Air Astana, the catering company developed a diverse selection of meals for Business Class, Economy Class, cabin crew, and flight crew. All meals were prepared in strict compliance with aviation food safety regulations while balancing nutrition, flavor, and suitability for inflight consumption. Blending both Eastern and Western culinary traditions, the meals reflected the craftsmanship and quality of premium airline catering.

Inflight dining is an important showcase of an airline’s service standards and a key component of the passenger travel experience. This joint tasting event not only demonstrated Air Astana’s commitment to continuously refining its onboard products and passengers’ dining experience, but also reflected the close collaboration between the airline and its catering partner in delivering higher-quality inflight services.

Air Astana launched its Almaty–Shanghai route in late March 2026 and currently operates four round-trip flights per week using the Airbus A321LR.
