April 2025

In celebration of Vietnam Airlines Group’s 30th anniversary (1995–2025) and in anticipation of major national events in 2025, Vietnam Airlines has unveiled a special livery featuring the Lạc Bird – a sacred symbol of Vietnamese culture, on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft will be operated on key domestic and international routes.
This refined visual identity represents a fusion of Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage and its vision for global integration. The Lạc Bird, originating from the Đông Sơn era, is prominently displayed on the fuselage of the Boeing 787-9, registration number VN-A868. This combination conveys a profound message: a proud Vietnam, honoring its national prestige, while embracing modernity, technology, and a distinct identity to conquer the skies.

The Lạc Bird is more than just an artistic symbol — it is a powerful cultural statement that reflects Vietnam’s enduring spirit, its aspirations for a better future, and its resilience in an increasingly interconnected world.
As the country enters a new phase of development — one that places culture and human capital at the heart of sustainable growth, Vietnam Airlines’ decision to feature the Lạc Bird on one of the world’s most modern aircraft is both meaningful and timely. It is a bold, creative expression of national pride and vision.
Emblazoned on the fuselage, the Lạc Bird serves not only as a cultural emblem, but also as a declaration of Vietnam’s ambition to rise, integrate, and affirm its unique identity on the global stage.
Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: “The Lạc Bird embodies the spirit of ambition, resilience, and forward momentum. By featuring this iconic symbol on the Boeing 787 — a pinnacle of modern aviation — Vietnam Airlines reaffirms its role as the national flag carrier: honoring our cultural roots while boldly charting a course toward the future. It’s a powerful statement of our commitment to bringing Vietnamese identity to the world with pride and innovation.”
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung, Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences at Hanoi National University, said: “A flag carrier boasting a global network like Vietnam Airlines incorporating the Lạc Bird in campaigns aligned with national events is truly meaningful. It demonstrates respect for national historical values and contributes to promoting Vietnamese culture.”

2025 marks a major milestone for Vietnam Airlines as it celebrates 30 years of growth. As the national flag carrier with a network of over 20-member units, the airline has carried hundreds of millions of passengers, flown over 3 billion kilometers, and connected Vietnam to more than 30 international destinations.
In this new era where tradition and innovation come together, Vietnam Airlines proudly upholds its role as a national symbol — distinctive, resilient, and a trusted companion on the journey of “soaring with the nation” toward a brighter future.
