Air Serbia’s Inaugural Flight to Shanghai, Partnering with Trip.com Group to Boost Inbound Tourism

On January 11, 2025, the first flight of JU986 operated by Air Serbia successfully arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, marking the official opening of the “Belgrade – Shanghai” direct flight route. On the morning of January 13, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of cooperation between Air Serbia and Trip.com Group was held in Shanghai.

Mr. Sasa Jeremic, Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of Serbia in Shanghai, Jiri Marek, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, Zhong Xiaomin, Director General of Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau, Sun Jie, Chief Executive Officer of Trip.com Group and Chinese and Serbian media attended and witnessed this important ceremony.

By 2024, Air Serbia’s route network has reached more than 90 destinations around the world, carrying 4.4 million passengers annually. On September 30, 2024, Air Serbia launched a direct flight from Belgrade to Guangzhou, greatly facilitating the connectivity between Southern China, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Central and Eastern Europe, and further promoting cooperation and development in business, tourism and other fields.

Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, said: “With the launch of the Shanghai-Belgrade route on January 11, we believe that through cooperation with Trip.com Group, Air Serbia can open up more possibilities for travelers, deepen cultural exchanges, and make Serbia and Eastern Europe a popular tourist destination in the world.”

According to the MOU, the two sides will jointly expand the China-Serbia and related international tourism markets through close cooperation and integration of resources, enhance the market competitiveness and brand influence of the two sides in their respective fields, and provide more convenient, high-quality and diversified tourism service experience for tourists from the two countries and around the world. And promote cultural exchanges between the two countries and the prosperity of tourism.
