[Press Release] At approximately 03:53 on March 30, 2026, the inaugural flight of Air Astana’s Almaty–Shanghai service landed smoothly at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute, marking the official launch of the direct route between the two cities.
The new route operates three times weekly. Flights from Almaty to Shanghai run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, while return services from Shanghai to Almaty operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The route is served by an Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Following the launch, Air Astana will operate a total of seven routes between Kazakhstan and China, including scheduled services from Almaty to Beijing, Shanghai, Urumqi and Guangzhou, as well as from Astana to Beijing, in addition to charter services from Almaty and Astana to Sanya.
