Air Astana Celebrates Expansion Of China Network

On the occasion of the second China-Central Asia Summit being held in Kazakhstan, Air Astana, the national flag carrier of Kazakhstan, recently celebrated the expansion of the China network — Guangzhou-Almaty new route at a media reception in Guangzhou. Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana, attended the event.

The recent launch of Air Astana services from Almaty to Guangzhou marked a significant milestone in expanding the airline’s operations to China. The service not only became its fifth direct connection between Kazakhstan and China, but it also represents the first Air Astana flight linking southern Kazakhstan with the southern China. This expansion underscores Air Astana’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and fostering closer ties between the two countries. Passengers from Guangzhou arriving in Almaty can enjoy convenient onward connections to destinations throughout Central Asia, the Caucasus, Middle East, South Asia and Europe.

“China has always been an important strategic market for Air Astana,” said Mr. Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana. “The launch of the Guangzhou service marks a significant step in expanding our Chinese route network in line with our long-term growth objectives.” 

Air Astana has continuously grown its route network in China since the Almaty to Beijing route was launched over 20 years ago. The airline now operates five routes between Kazakhstan and China: Almaty to Beijing, Astana to Beijing, Almaty to Urumqi, Almaty to Hainan and Almaty to Guangzhou.

Since June 2, Beijing and Urumqi to Almaty route has been resumed to 7 flights per week. So far, Air Astana operates a total of 23 flights per week between China and Kazakhstan.

In addition, Flyarystan, a subsidiary low-cost airline by Air Astana Group, opened Astana-Urumqi route on April 13, and Almaty to Yining route on May 18, both with 2 flights per week, further expanding its route network in China.
